Surf-Inspired Street Food In Croyde 2021
OPEN from the 2nd April – 30th September 2021.
Discover the taste of Croyde Surf-Inspired Street Food this summer at Biffen’s Kitchen.
Come and find me (Biff) and my team (Alex, Lottie and Lucy) at the Ocean Pitch Campsite between 2nd April – 30th September.
Just a 2-minute walk from Croyde Beach and a 10-minute walk from Croyde village centre.
Head to Google to view my LIVE opening times! You can expect breakfast from Wed-Sun 8:30-10:30 and evening meals from Wed-Sat 17:30-19:30…Don’t leave it too late as it is only a small van and we do sell out often and we cannot take any pre-orders.
My advice would be to come closer to the opening time than closing time.
The evening menu will change each week and can be seen on my Instagram page. You can expect Moroccan wraps, katsu curry, Mexican pulled pork and Jamaican jerk.
If you have any dietary intolerances, please get in touch so I can update you with the ingredients used within each meal.
Our breakfast menu is gluten heavy as we use bagels on the grill and organic overnight oats however, we do have a gluten-free option in the evenings. If you are celiac, please get in touch beforehand so I can ensure we can accommodate you.
NOTE: EVERYONE IS WELCOME! You don’t need to camp at Ocean Pitch to enjoy my breakfast & evening street food.
Everyone is allowed to walk on site and all I ask is that you respect the campsite when visiting. As it is a small campsite there is NO parking on-site so I recommend parking in one of the cark parks available in Croyde.
For 2021, Mike, from Freshwell camping has very kindly allowed Biffen’s Kitchen visitors to park on their front field for 45 minutes only.
What’s Cooking, Good Looking?
The reason I created surf-inspired street food is that it allows me to offer a variety of cuisines throughout the season. From beach breaks in Taghazout, Morocco to the cold shores of Shikoku, Japan and let’s not forget the warm waters of Puerto Escondido, Mexico.
I will always offer a simple choice of meat and plant-based options in my breakfast and evening menu.
My meat is sourced from a local farm called Top Meadow and I try and use organic and local businesses (such as Nourish) in most of my meals. All meals are made on-site by yours truly to offer delicious Croyde Street Food.
How Did I Get Here
Biffen’s Kitchen started as a hobby by share recipes on my website to inspire people to find their love of cooking while working in London as a Marketing Manager for a ski company.
I have always been to Croyde with my family since I was 7.
But, after a weekend surf trip to Ocean Pitch in September 2018, my eyes noticed the campsite Snack Shack that would become the start of my new path in life.
After a day of surfing and a few beers that evening with friends, I went to bed thinking of how I could turn my website into a food van in Croyde.
Cook, Surf & Work.
The next morning, I made up my mind.
4 months later, I handed in my notice and prepared myself for my first season in April 2019, to set up the Biffen’s Kitchen food van.
I am not a chef. My skills are nothing to compare to the talented chefs out there but rather I see myself as a cook.
Someone who has a passion for cooking and wants to offer the best of his ability to hungry surfers and campers.
This year I am lucky to have 3 other crazy foodies who want to experience life in a food van by the beach (I don’t blame them).
You will get to meet the Alex, Lottie, Emma and myself on your visits over the week.
